Public website
Public readers do not need an account. Our own readership script uses the first-party hts_analytics_id cookie, a random browser identifier with a maximum lifetime of two years, subject to browser limits. It is not an advertising cookie and is not shared with Google or other analytics providers. If the browser blocks storage, measurement uses a temporary page identifier and cannot reliably recognize a returning browser.
Your choice
You can disable readership measurement in analytics preferences. This removes the browser identifier and stores hts_analytics_optout for up to two years to remember your choice. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals disable measurement as well. Clearing cookies resets the saved choice.
Private editorial workspace
Signed-in administrators receive one first-party, HTTP-only session cookie. It is required for authentication, is limited to the site, uses SameSite protection, and expires after the administrative session window. It is not an advertising cookie.
Other services
HairTrendScout does not load third-party analytics or advertising cookies. External websites linked in source and creator credits apply their own policies after you follow a link.
